Cultural Projects

Partneriaeth Ogwen is committed to supporting the Welsh language. Welsh is the administrative language of the Partnership and it is a condition of employment and we are proud to foster language skills in our workplace. We also develop projects that celebrate and promote the language, culture, and heritage of the area. These range from cultural events such as the Gwenllian Festival or the Bethesda Bicentenary Celebrations to running a local book and craft shop - Siop Ogwen.

Our main cultural project at the moment is the development of the Yr Hen Bost Heritage Centre. This center will be home to local history exhibitions and an opportunity to celebrate our history and heritage.

With the support of the Carneddau Landscape Partnership, we established the Lleisiau Lleol oral history project in 2023. We work with volunteers to collect oral histories through audio and video interviews, as well as helping local groups record photos and documents relating to local history. All of the content is kept in the People’s Collection and can be accessed here. Please contact Enable JavaScript to view protected content. for more information or to get involved.

These projects raise our community's awareness of our history and heritage but also raise confidence, foster a healthy and inclusive community, and celebrate our cultural identity.
