Partneriaeth Ogwen are pleased to announce that they have purchased the old Spar building on Bethesda High Street to be developed as a new craft centre, restaurant and a heritage centre for Dyffryn Ogwen. Yr Hen Bost will be the name of the new centre. After hard work by the staff of Partneriaeth Ogwen on substantial grant applications we have succeeded in buying the building. The project will be funded by numerous grants, including the Welsh Government's Town Transformation Fund administered by Gwynedd Council and the Eryri Community Fund and also investment from the Partneriaeth Ogwen. Since buying the building, Partneriaeth Ogwen have also been successful with an application to the UK Government's Enterprising Communities Fund to fund architectural costs for the site. PEGWA Architects were commissioned to develop designs for the development of the property. Elinor Gray Williams, the lead architect, is an expert in conservation and sustainable architecture and will be developing the site to carbon neutral standards and create a building that reflects the area's quarrying heritage.
The development will be funded through the Westminster Government's Levelling Up Fund and the Welsh Government's Circular Economy fund.
